The Art of Technical Writing
Good technical writing is not about showing off how much you know. It's about making complex ideas accessible to someone who is encountering them for the first time. Start with the problem. Before explaining how something works, explain why it matters. Your reader should feel the pain point before you offer the solution. Use short paragraphs. Break up walls of text. One idea per paragraph. If you need a list, use a list. Read your draft out loud. If you stumble over a sentence, your reader will too. Rewrite until it flows naturally. The best technical posts leave the reader feeling smarter, not overwhelmed.
Building Word Weaver with Next.js
When I set out to build Word Weaver, I wanted a blogging platform that felt fast, modern, and worth showing in a portfolio. Next.js App Router turned out to be the perfect foundation. The decision to consolidate frontend and API into a single codebase simplified deployment dramatically. No more juggling separate Vercel and Cloudflare Workers deployments — everything lives in one Next.js project. Prisma with PostgreSQL gives us type-safe database access, and the combination of server components and route handlers makes the architecture clean and predictable. If you're building a personal project, start simple. Ship the core loop — write, publish, read — and polish from there.
